With a PULSE system and Head and Torso Simulator (HATS) strapped into the rear seat of Danish Air Force F-16, the goal of this airborne mission was to measure the pilot’s exposure to noise.

The setup consisted of a PULSE system operating with a laptop PC but with solid-state hard drives and flash memory cards for ruggedness. Four Brüel & Kjær Pressure-field ½-inch Microphones Type 4192L were used – two within the HATS, one by the air-conditioning nozzle, and one placed in front of the navigator’s position.
