Calibration for Aerospace and Defence

Even the most carefully performed and sophisticated measurement is of no real value unless the uncertainty of the measurement is known. In most cases, proof of traceability to national or international standards is also required. These requirements are fulfilled by proper calibration.

In- or Out-of-house?

Is it best to calibrate “in-house” or should you send your equipment to an outside vendor for calibration? The answer to this question depends on many factors and, in some cases, a combination of both is the best solution. Whatever policy your corporation has chosen, Brüel & Kjær has the best solutions for calibrating sound and vibration equipment and sensors.

In-house Calibration

Brüel & Kjær offers a complete portfolio of calibration systems for both sound and vibration, most of them built around the versatile PULSE™ multi-analyzer. Our calibration systems cover everything from the calibration of microphones and sound calibrators to sound level meters and filters. A system for reciprocity calibration of microphones and a special high-pressure system for calibration at sound pressure levels up to 174 dB are also available.

In the vibration world we offer a broad range of back-to-back accelerometer calibration systems (low-, mid- and high-frequency). In addition to these more common systems, we also offer systems for the calibration of shock sensors as well as primary calibration of accelerometers (using laser interferometry).

Out-of-house Calibration

If you want to outsource all or part of your calibration business, then Brüel & Kjær is your ideal partner. We operate a worldwide service organisation, and eight accredited (to ISO 17025) calibration centres that provide you with support no matter where you are in the world. We offer on-site calibration, where our calibration engineers will perform the calibration at your site, saving precious time and equipment transportation.
