EU Noise Emission Directive - Do you Comply?

The EU Directive on Noise Emission by Outdoor Equipment:

• Involves 57 types of equipment for use outdoors, ranging from construction machinery to lawnmowers
• Demands declarations from manufacturers on the 'guaranteed' sound-power levels of their products before they can be marketed in the EU
• Affects manufacturers that market products in EU countries

Product sound-power levels have to be declared, and quality-control procedures established, to ensure continued compliance with the new legislation.

On the January 3rd, 2002, the Directive became mandatory. Failure to comply with these regulations may result in products being prohibited from the EU marketplace.
