  • Day 1 -- Fundamentals of electroacoustic measurement such as calibration, level and spectrum measurements, frequency response, free field and diffuse field measurements using test rooms or simulated methods, and distortion measurements. Application is to all audio electroacoustic devices.
  • Days 2 & 3 -- Application of electroacoustic fundamentals to devices with telephone or speech communication functions. Specialized principles, techniques and vocabulary are covered for measuring analog, digital, cellular, VoIP, USB, PC-based, and other telephone devices. Methods specified in IEEE, TIA, ITU-T, and ETSI standards are explained. Practical suggestions are given for the selection, calibration and use of microphones, ear simulators, mouth simulators, and fixtures for testing handsets, headsets, and speakerphones. Other topics include perceptually-based analysis methods, an overview of acoustic modeling, how to interpret microphone and receiver data sheets, and practical tips for telephone designers.
