Optimise Materials for the Sound Package
Optimisation of the sound absorption and transmission loss performance has a prevalent role in the design process. The challenge is to find cost-effective solutions to achieve the cabin’s desired acoustic environment. This might mean using sound absorbers that add to the vehicles weight and reduce fuel efficiency or the introduction of lighter performance composites that change a signature sound. So the challenge is to ensure that new materials produce the desired results.
Brüel & Kjær’s PULSE Acoustic Material Testing solution allows manufacturers and sub-suppliers the tools to measure all materials for sound or vibration reduction against design specifications and validate their acoustic properties. The integrated solution includes a selection of Tube Kits and software that determines the acoustical properties whether the materials are used to absorb airborne sound or to reduce airborne sound transmission. A variant designed for in situ measurement of acoustic absorption of road surfaces is also available.
