Over the last couple of years Brüel & Kjær Sound & Vibration Services has assisted many of our customers with engineering services in sound and vibration related to improve mutual understanding of NVH applications and solve unique NVH issues.

As a new initiative for our global accounts, we wish to offer this assistance to all customers - a unique opportunity for R&D centers to use Brüel & Kjær latest state-of-the-art technology to solve individual jobs without first finding the capital normally required to do so.

Presentation of the facility
Brüel & Kjær Sound & Vibration Services provides a full Sound Transmission Loss (STL) test suite with two reverberant rooms, a hemi-anechoic room, and fully anechoic chamber – all connected with material sample testing. The hemi-anechoic room and one of the reverberant rooms are large enough to accommodate a full-sized SUV vehicle.

The facility also houses a large hemi-anechoic room with a vehicle-sized, T-slot test bed for structural testing. This bed is anchored to 200000 pounds of concrete sitting on isolators to provide an excellent facility for structural testing of anything from the smallest component to full-sized vehicles.

The four roll chassis dynamometer in a hemi-anechoic provides an excellent facility for evaluation of a wide range of vehicle NVH characteristics. With the ability to absorb power, run the rolls at program speed, simulate vehicle inertia and other loads, and to permit free-wheeled testing, this dynamometer supports a wide range of tests. Typical test include brake noise, wind noise, powertrain noise and vibration, interior vehicle NVH analysis and many more.

There are three brake NVH dynamometers capable of running any internationally recognised brake NVH test procedure.

The listening room provides an excellent laboratory for listening and jury test. In addition this room is often used with the NVH vehicle simulator to assist customers in vehicle development and the understanding of annoying sound characteristics.

Finally, the six vehicle bays with three lifts provide the facilities necessary for vehicle preparation and tear down for both on-road and laboratory testing.
