Brüel & Kjær is always seeking ways to improve its products and service to our customers. One of the methods we use is to send out questionnaires to help us understand the bottlenecks in work processes. In one questionnaire we focused on the customers’ view of the factors affecting software quality. We were somewhat surprised that the issue prioritised by customers over 'stability' or 'features’ was ‘ease-of-use'.

With the acquisition of LDS Test and Measurement – the world’s leading company in Vibration Test – Brüel & Kjær has significantly expanded its solution portfolio. The LDS Test and Measurement business provides vibration test solutions for applications as diverse as satellite testing and structural analysis, squeak and rattle checks, and package testing. These products complement the Brüel & Kjær product range perfectly.

The space industry probably has the most demanding requirements of vibration testing given the huge stresses involved in the launch of the payload, and the fact that you cannot easily repair a deployed satellite. So it’s best that the system has been thoroughly tested before launch. For this purpose the European Space Research and Technology Centre has invested in a quad shaker system using LDS’ V984LS shakers, delivering up to a staggering 640kN of sine force.

Suzuki Wind Tunnel used for  Full-vehicle Noise Source identification

To locate the sources of wind noise on cars, Suzuki needed a noise source identification measurement system that could operate in a wind tunnel with wind speeds up to 190 km/h. The Customer Satisfaction Survey carried out in early 2008 clearly indicated that our Complaint Handling Process was in need of improvement. As a result, an in-depth analysis has been made based upon a later Complaint Handling Survey. This was sent to 800 willing customers worldwide and gave an overwhelming 70% response rate.
