Back in 1997, when we launched the very first edition of Brüel & Kjær Magazine, we never dared believe that it would stand the test of time and still exist 11 years later. With this issue, we proudly celebrate the 25th printed edition. However, times and trends change. Since that first edition, we have seen astonishing advances in technology and a life without Internet, e-mail, and mobile phones is unthinkable today. So, in order to emulate modern day progress, we believe that now is a good time to rethink and review the format of the Magazine.

Our recent customer analysis showed a clear predilection among customers for electronic communication of information. With the hectic pace of 21st century life, readers have become more selective in their reading habits. According to the analysis, our automotive customers’ seldom read the articles not related to their industry, likewise our environmental and aerospace and defence customers. To capitalise on the potential of modern information technology and to adapt to the ways our customers’ seek out new information, we are planning to produce the Magazine in an electronic format that will streamline with our industry-specific e-newsletters.

Alongside the huge advances in technology, there is an ongoing and increasing focus on and awareness of the environment and sustainability. To ensure that we do not contribute to any unnecessary waste or pollution – whether paper or CO2 emissions – we want to ensure that the Magazine’s print run reflects the demand for a printed version. As a result, you will soon receive an e-mail where you simply choose between an electronic or printed Brüel & Kjær Magazine*. By doing this you will in future receive the Magazine in the format of your choice, and we will hopefully be making a little contribution towards protecting the environment by producing the optimal number of copies. And, as always, our Magazine will continue to exist electronically on www.bksv.com – in no less than nine languages. And the choice of how you read it is yours – you can download it, print it out, or read it on screen from an on-line viewer.

Enjoy this, the 25th edition!
