RAFIC Type 7675

The Radar and Flight Information Capture (RAFIC) software is resident in a separate computer. It manages radar data captured using a real-time link with the airport radar. A special interface box (Type 6553) ensures that the radar data are delivered in the format required by the RAFIC software. The computer may be placed wherever convenient as the radar link can comprise standard modems and public telephone lines.

The radar data, e.g., in the form of a transponder code and X, Y, Z co-ordinates for each aircraft in radar contact, are captured and saved for subsequent downloading to the computer loaded with the 7802/7804 software. Alternatively, provided that a real-time link is available, data may be transmitted directly to the computer loaded with the 7802/7804 software to provide a real-time flight-track display.

The software can also be connected to a real-time line with flight strip information. These flight strip data will be stored in a database for later download to the 7804 Flight Tracking Software. Here the radar data is put into flight tracks and correlated with the proper flight strip information.
