Calibration of Sound Level Meters

For Sound Level Meters Brüel & Kjær can provide Accredited Calibration, Traceable Calibration, Verification for selected countries and Instrument Verification.

Accredited Calibration

Accredited calibration fulfils requirements for legal purposes and is recommended for other purposes.

Brüel & Kjær can provide these types of accreditations for Brüel & Kjær Sound Level Meters:

  • DANAK (English certificate)
  • A2LA (English certificate)
  • UKAS (English certificate)
  • RvA (Dutch certificate)
  • ENAC (Spanish certificate)
  • NATA (English certificate)
  • Inmetro, Brazil (Portugese certificate)

Initial Calibration

To start the calibration history from day one we recommend you order accredited calibration together with your new Sound Level Meter.

Re-calibration

Brüel & Kjær recommends annual re-calibration to provide data for unbroken calibration history to use as reference, either for internal requirements, for audit required by authorities or at the request of your customers.

Measurements

Measurements of Sound Level Meters are according to standards IEC 61672, IEC 60651/ 60804, BS 7580, ANSI S1 4, and ANSI S1.43.

Initial calibrations on new Sound Level Meters Types 2250, 2250 Light and 2270 will be performed according to IEC 61672. This applies for calibration according to accreditation bodies DANAK, ENAC and RvA.

Re-calibration of Types 2250, 2250 Light and 2270 for DANAK, ENAC and RvA will be performed to the latest standard, IEC 61672, unless you specify other standard on the order.

Measurements are traceable to, for example, DPLA, NIST, NPL and PTB.

Add-on calibration products

Calibration of filter response for 1/1-octave and 1/3-octave filters according to IEC 61260.

Calibration of filters for the range 6.3Hz to 20 kHz.

Filter calibration is provided at an additional fee.

Certificate

With the accredited certificate you get:

  • Proof that calibration has been performed according to quality requirements in ISO 17025
  • Measurement results as well as associated uncertainties
  • Internationally accepted certificate
  • Air temperature, air pressure and relative humidity
  • The logo of the Accreditation Body

Traceable Calibration

Measurements

Measurements of Sound Level Meters are according to standards IEC 61672, IEC 60651/ 60804, BS 7580, ANSI S1 4, and ANSI S1.43.

Initial calibrations on new Sound Level Meters Types 2250, 2250 Light and 2270 will be performed according to IEC 61672. This applies for calibration according to accreditation bodies DANAK, ENAC and RvA.

Re-calibration of Types 2250, 2250 Light and 2270 for DANAK, ENAC and RvA will be performed to the latest standard, IEC 61672, unless you specify other standard on the order.

Legal Verification

Brüel & Kjær can provide legal verification for:

  • Customers in Spain: Primitiva
  • Customers in Austria: Eichung

Please be aware that legal verification does not contain measurement results.

Verification/Conformance Test

Brüel & Kjær can provide instrument verification:

  • A Conformance Test certifies that the instrument has been tested, has passed all production tests, and complies with the manufacturers' published specifications
  • You will receive Certificate of Conformance

Re-calibration: Please fill in the Service Request Form before you ship instrument.

Filter Calibration: At time of ordering calibration of instrument, please specify if filters should be calibrated.

Legal Verification, Primitiva: Please order  with new instrument.

Legal Verification, Eichung (Austria): Please order  with new instrument. For Re-calibration please fill in the Service Request Form before you ship instrument.

Instrument specific verification: Please order Conformance Test.
