2250 & 2270 Based Building Acoustics System
Building Acoustics Defined
Building Acoustics is the assessment of sound insulation in buildings and building elements. It is important for the well-being of people in their homes, workplace or public venues, and minimum standards are set in the building regulations of each country.
The assessment is based on measured 1/3 octave or 1/1 octave spectra within the 50 - 5000 Hz range. Measurements are carried out in real time (all bands simultaneously).
Tasks
There are three kinds of BA measurement (Tasks), depending on the purpose:
- Airborne sound insulation is the sound insulation from one room (the source room) to another (the receiving room). It is calculated from the Leq spectrum for the average source room level L1, average receiving room level L2, receiving room background noise level B2 and average reverberation time T2.
- Facade sound insulation is airborne sound insulation with the "source room" being the space outside a building, and the receiving room being inside the building
- Impact Sound Level is the sound level in the receiving room from a standardized tapping machine in the source room.

Building Acoustics measurement with Type 2250 & Type 2270
Application software Type BZ-7228 is available for Hand-held Analyzers Type 2250 and Type 2270 . It provides the flexibility, ease of use and confidence in your results that field measurements require in building acoustics.
Dual Channel Measurement with 2270 & BZ 7229
Application software Type BZ 7229 is the dual channel measurement application for the 2270 hand-held analyzer and offers a time saving benefit in being able to measure in the source and receiving rooms simultaneously for airborne tests or outside and inside for facade measurements.
Features
- Complete hand-held building acoustics analyzer
- Measures source and receiving room level spectra (Equalisation of sound source spectra)
- Measures reverberation time spectra (Impulse and Interrupted noise method)
- Measurement position management
- Calculates final results on the spot (ISO plus another 12 national standards)
- Measurement quality indicators
- Colour touch screen user interface
- Sound recording, voice commentary and integrated camera (Type 2270 only) to document test environment

PULSE Reflex Building Acoustics
Having completed your airborne, façade or impact measurements with a Type 2250 or 2270, PULSE Reflex can be used to complete the work-flow process in an intuitive PC environment, offering versatile data analysis and ‘fast-track’ generation of the complete measurement report.
- Generate reports in the format you need quickly and easily
The stream-lined ‘work flow’ concept allows your results to be published in a Word* document, Excel* spreadsheet or a PowerPoint* presentation, all of which are integrated into the PULSE Reflex environment and updated instantly during the analysis process.
- Data Integrity checks - increased confidence in your assessment
PULSE Reflex performs sound insulation data integrity checks that let you know if room measurement quality is below the minimum standard required by the relevant building acoustics standard.
- Combine, compare, conclude
Determining the before-and-after performance of a rebuilt or repaired party wall is intuitively simple. Combine, compare and conclude performance measurements with confidence and ease.
- Gain an unrivalled insight into the factors influencing your building acoustic results
Edit measurement data in the interactive display to instantly reveal which factors are contributing most to your sound insulation results.
