Material Testing – Getting the best material test results – Materials Prep and Mounting

Register now

Having the best test equipment does not insure the best material testing result.  The results of a recent ASTM inter-laboratory study showed that sample preparation was the variable with the highest contribution to test variation.  Boundary conditions for materials testing are very sensitive so sample size and fit within the test fixtures. Simply put. this means that if your test specimen are not prepared and mounted correctly, you do not get accurate results.  This course will provide real world guidance on proper sample preparation and mounting for materials testing.  Examples of good and bad will be reviewed as well as how the results can be used to predict large scale behavior.
