The course will cover basic theory, best practices, and advanced techniques for evaluating the acoustic properties of materials and structures using an impedance tube apparatus.
Applications of discussion will range from simple measurement of normal incidence impedance, to the measurement of transmission loss and qualification of nonlinear acoustic behavior of materials, and the characterization of acoustic meta materials. Test and measurement techniques will be described and demonstrated to show how these tests can be completed and interpreted with real world measurements.
The course is directed toward engineers and technicians with a need to develop and improve acoustic materials, or to perform production line quality control testing.
