B&K Type 2270-W is our flagship vibration meter and vibration analyzer. Designed with two channels, B&K Type 2270 offers all the functionality of B&K Type 2250, with the addition of being capable of simultaneous measurements - with tight phase matching between the two channels,
What is a vibration meter?
A vibration meter is a measurement instrument – often handheld – that is used in product development and manufacturing for vibration assessment, diagnostics and quality control. Vibration meters can be configured with a range of analysis options, from simple broadband measurements to octave or FFT-based frequency analysis and even time-domain integration to velocity and displacement.
Single, wide frequency band vibration measurements are a useful quick-look vibration indicator, which can be used for example when evaluating the general condition of a machine or the effectiveness of vibration isolation measures. For diagnostic purposes, for example in the course of product development, frequency analysis is necessary. Some frequency components in the vibration frequency spectrum can be immediately related to particular forcing functions, for example, shaft rotation speeds, gear tooth meshing frequencies etc.
Acceleration, velocity, and displacement are parameters traditionally used to assess a machine's health when initially installed or after maintenance, repair or overhaul (MRO). The Crest Factor is used to detect and diagnose defects in roller element bearings.
What is a vibration meter used for?
Vibration meters are used in manufacturing across a wide range of industries:
- Vibration level checks
- Crest factor measurements
- Quality testing and inspection
- Product development
- Machinery analysis and troubleshooting
- Building vibration
- Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO)
