LDS V994

High-force Electrodynamic shaker

A water-cooled electrodynamic shaker for shock and high-performance vibration tests of extra-large payloads up to 5000 kg (11,000 lb), such as satellites, electronic assemblies and defence hardware. It has a peak sine force rating of 289.1 kN (65,000 lbf).

The largest and most powerful shaker in the LDS® range, V994 is used for durability and reliability testing of some of the world’s most complex products and applications, including avionics, telecommunication and satellite systems, military instrumentation, and commercial aircraft components. Built for high-frequency, high-force vibration and shock testing, it can be arranged in single- or multi-shaker configurations.

USE SCENARIOS

  • Three-axis testing of complete satellite systems
  • Durability tests of avionics and military hardware
  • Structural dynamics testing, including SRS analysis, Test-FEA integration, and classical and operational modal analyses
  • Testing in cleanrooms and controlled environments, such as aerospace test facilities
  • Tests involving hazardous materials, including transport simulation
  • Multi-shaker, multi-axis applications, such as satellite and rocket testing

CHARACTERISTICS

Strong and sturdy, V994 is the ideal choice when testing requires that oversize products be subjected to extreme vibration conditions. As well as delivering high forces, thanks to its rolling armature the shaker can achieve up to 50.8 mm (2 in) displacement for sine operation and 63.5 mm (2.5 in) for transient pulses. The large diameter of the armature – 760 mm (29.9 in) – offers ample load-mounting surface to easily and securely accommodate large devices for testing.

Suitable for use in a wide range of humidity and temperature conditions, the V994 shaker has a hermetically sealed and pressurized body to shield its interior from moisture, foreign particles, and other contaminants that could cause malfunctions and delays. This increases efficiency and dependability and also protects the shaker’s load support system.

A closed-loop water cooling mechanism ensures the absence of air blowing around the shaker and test equipment, which makes it suitable for cleanrooms (certifiable to Federal Standard 209 Class 100000) and other controlled settings, including where hazardous material are tested. This feature also results in lower operational costs, as it minimizes water losses and eliminates the need for expensive air conditioning.

The shaker comes standard-mounted on a trunnion fitted with LDS® Lin-E-Air suspension that isolates the shaker from the ground, thus reducing vibration in the surrounding environment and permitting operation at low frequencies with minimal seismic interference on test results.

ADDITIONAL CAPABILITIES

V994 can be paired with one of our oil-film slip tables to enable it to test articles in the horizontal axis.

Furthermore, guided head expanders can be added as an option to securely and efficiently fasten payloads with offset centres of gravity for testing.

Thermal barriers are also available to protect the shaker from
high temperatures during environmental tests.
