INTRODUCING THE WATER-COOLED, HIGH-FORCE LDS V9940 SHAKER SYSTEM

A new shaker platform ideal for vibration and shock testing of Electric Vehicle (EV) battery modules and packs, e-axles and e-drivetrains. Offering high shock performance for large payloads.

Batteries of electric and hybrid vehicles must safely and reliably survive many years of road abuse, and they are also classified as “dangerous goods”, making thorough testing indispensable.

Watch the launch event to find out why the V9940 shaker platform is our best and most demanding EV battery test platform to date. Tim Gardiner, Tim Bidwell and Tom Ulenaers from HBK LDS will talk you through:

  • Vibration testing requirements in the automotive industry
  • The characteristics and tech specs of the V9940 shaker platform
  • Climate chamber integration
  • HBK project support from start to finish

The slip table can be installed horizontally or vertically. Different sizes are available, and optionally, pedestal bearings can be positioned around the perimeter of the slip table to support large payloads. Please contact your VTS Sales Specialist, or the Project Sales Office for more details
This varies a bit. Most users calculate with one shift, but in practice, we would assume around 2 to 3 hours.
As a standard, this is done manually, but if a customer requires a motorized system, HBK LDS can provide a solution.
As the bearings are placed around the perimeter of the shaker assembly, they will need to be affixed to the concrete floor. Considerations must be given to alignment with slip table -
Yes. But the individual test requirements will have to be considered and not just the mass of the device under test (DUT). The performance of the pedestal bearings, for example in terms of frequency, is limited in comparison to the slip table.
There are two options available. The shaker/chamber system can handle water spray/extinguishing material to cool the battery system. Typically, the flow rate can be up to 50 litres per minute. The shaker is hermetically sealed to prevent ingress. The second option is to flood the system: the shaker chamber/integration allows for automatic sealing (either with the head expander or slip table) and bearing capacity to hold up to 10 tonnes of fluid.
No, all other chamber manufacturers are also possible, but then only the standard sealing interfacing is possible.
The Project Sales Office handles all requirements that lie outside the standard specifications, so the process varies depending on the project itself and whether it is retrofitting an existing shaker system or finding a new solution. We guarantee turnkey solutions with dedicated support throughout the whole process along with a swift process completion.
Yes, please involve us with your project so we can give recommendations with regard to your layout and building infrastructure.
Yes of course. We have seen inquiries for other large or heavy components where hard shock tests were needed. Typically, automotive applications require hard shocks (like 30g / 50g -6ms/11ms). If you need to test big and heavy components, the V9440 could be the right shaker for you.
Yes of course, with the pedestal configuration you can be very flexible with regards to mounting surface. V9940 is able to test up to 2000 Hz, but it needs to be understood that testing very light and small components and doing light tests on this kind of big, monster shaker, gives some consequences to the quality of your test. So yes, it is possible, but it is better to test on a smaller shaker.
Ca 1 year. Similar to the chamber for this kind of application.
