Rail Vehicle Moving Source Beamforming
Beamforming is an array-based measurement technique for the localization of noise sources.
This method is often used on stationary (fixed) sources but can also be applied to moving sources such as pass-by of rail vehicles.
Using practical examples, we will describe the hardware and software setup necessary to perform the measurements and visualize and rank the main noise sources, which for rail vehicles are typically pantographs, wheels and bogies.
