Sound Power and noise emission software
For free sound fields such as anechoic chambers, this software determines sound power, tonality and impulsivity by making measurements that meet ISO standards.
Request PriceThis sound power and noise emission software determines the noise levels of products by measuring their sound emissions in a free-field acoustic environment using multiple microphone positions.
The sound power is determined from sound pressure measurements, where the user measures sound on a flat, virtual surface on every side of the test object. Beyond overall noise levels, this software also helps determine a product’s sound quality, by analyzing characteristics of the sound such as tones and impulsivity.
The software helps the user measure sound power using measurement methods that fulfill the standards ISO 3744, ISO 3745, ISO 3746, ISO 11201, ISO 7779, and ECMA 74. Using these methods, the software specifies the maximum sound power level for each category of the EU Directive 2000-14-EC for outdoor equipment, 98/37/EEC for machinery noise, and washing machines according to 2009/125/EC.
USE SCENARIOS
- Determining noise emissions of machinery, equipment, washing machines, spin extractors, vacuum cleaners
- Determining sound pressure levels at a work station
- Declaring product compliance with noise specifications for legislation or voluntary awards such as the Blue Angel
- Comparing noise emissions of machinery and equipment for benchmarking
EASE OF USE
This PULSE software has a dedicated user interface for each ISO standard, with a clear task list that leads you through all the necessary steps to fulfil the requirements. Features such as pop-up text and colour coding provide quick updates on measurement status, and the software displays clear warnings if information is missing or does not follow the requirements. Based on the results, actions are suggested to attain the desired level of accuracy.
SOUND QUALITY
The software can identify prominent, discrete tones of a single frequency that can cause great human discomfort using tone-to-noise ratio. Similarly, it can determine impulsive noises of short duration and relatively high amplitude, using a prominence ratio.
CAPABILITIES
- Measurements according to noise test codes for information technology and telecommunications equipment ISO 7779, ECMA 74 and ISO 11201
- Determination of emission sound pressure levels at a work station according to ISO 11201
- Measurement procedures and calculations for determination of airborne acoustical noise of household and similar electrical appliances such as vacuum cleaners EN 60704-2-4 / IEC 60704-2-1: 2014, and washing machines and spin extractors IEC 60704-2-4:2001
- Tone-to-noise ratio – ANSI S1.13 (1995)
- Prominence ratio – ANSI S1.13 (1995)
HIGH-FREQUENCY SOUND POWER
High-frequency noise can be broadband or narrowband and discrete tones (such as power supplies, video displays and medical devices). For sound power determination of high-frequency noise (in the frequency range 11.2 to 22.4 kHz) emitted by certain machinery and equipment, PULSE High-frequency Sound Power software is recommended.
The software is is a PULSE template that manages the measurement of high-frequency noise using measurement methods described in ISO 9295 (reverberation time method, air absorption method, reference sound source method and free-field method) and calculates the guaranteed sound power level for each item tested.
OUTDOOR MACHINERY NOISE
Outdoor machinery noise is a PULSE software application that supports EU Outdoor Noise Directive 2000/14/EC. It determines the official noise levels of outdoor machinery by guiding the user through the necessary steps to meet ISO measurement requirements defined by ISO 3744, ISO 3745 and ISO 3746. It works together with microphones that are positioned on an imaginary hemisphere surrounding the test object. The software controls the test and helps the user ensure it meets the relevant measurement standard with clear step-by-step instructions through set up, calibration, measurement and reporting of noise emission quantities of outdoor machinery according to the specifications of each ISO standard.
Configured with the requirements of each standard, the software displays warnings if information is missing or does not follow the requirements. The operator can check the health and readiness of all channels simultaneously with one click, using charge injection calibration (CIC). Users need minimal training, which also makes it easy to use the system alone.
FAN NOISE
Fan Noise PULSE software is part of a complete system for determining the maximum sound power of fans. It works together with microphones positioned as defined by the ISO standard, feeding data to a LAN-XI data acquisition hardware analyzer.
The software helps you make measurements that meet the standards ISO 3744, ISO 3745 and ISO 3746. It guides you through the necessary steps, of measurement setup, measurement runs and report generation – making it easy to use and minimizing the training required.
